and res. BEST-IN-SHOW at the Sunds foal- & youngstock show
Victoria:
Victoria is our new star and we have already decided
that we will keep her as a future brood mare at Valhalla. How can we decide
that even if she is barely 1 year old?
First of all because she is such an excellent filly, which
she (to some extent) proved when she took part in her first show ever, namely the
foal show in Sunds, where she ended up as res. BEST-IN-SHOW in strong company. Furthermore
she has exactly the right temperament; she is at the same time calm and gentle to
work with at home, and she is very lively and spirited when she is away from
home and she likes to show off. When she does that, she displays her excellent
paces, which no doubt has been inherited from her famous sire and all of his
great family.
Let me shortly present Victoria’s paternal family:
Victoria’s sire
- Fronarth Victor – is our favourite stallion in Wales; therefore we had very little doubts
when we in 2002 should choose which stallion we would like to cover Emma with in
the summer of 2002, from the many possibilities.
Fronarth Victor is not just a beautiful stallion with wonderful
movement. He has proven himself in the show ring e.g. winning twice at the Royal
Welsh and also winning the Male championship here. But even more important he
has had incredible success as a stock-getter and e.g. sired the Royal Welsh
Youngstock champion for 4 consecutive years - and that is 4 different winners!!
Victoria’s grandsire - Ebbw Victor - is a real legend in Wales. Without
comparison he has been the most popular stallion at the Royal Welsh during the
last 25 years, where he year after year has made the crowds cheer, shout and
whistle. Quite often he was the last one to come in, and when he took his
rounds at full speed we were all thrilled and excited!!
Here you now will have 4 different studios of Ebbw
Victor in his trot:
All in all Ebbw Victor in his prime had enormous popularity.
Therefore it was a very cheerful crowd that saw him go all the way to the top of
the Royal Welsh in 1998, being by then 19 years old. After having come close a
number of times he eventually had the Supreme Cob Championship, and thus he won
what all of the Welsh Cob breeders dream of: The George Prince of Wales Cup!
Victoria’s grandmother – Fronarth Boneddiges – is
a very beautiful mare, almost strikingly beautiful like a painting. Maybe a bit
light to some people, but combined with Ebbw Victors substance and power: Absolutely
Perfect! Also Boneddiges has won an endless number of shows, e.g. the Youngstock
championship at the major Spring shows (Glanusk, Lampeter etc.) and at the Royal
Welsh. In her life she has won the Royal Welsh show 4 times, and also she has achieved
it (in fact in 1999, that is the year after Ebbw Victor won it), namely the George Prince of Wales Cup!
The row of triumphs at the Royal Welsh continues: Also
the sire of Boneddiges, that is the great grandsire of Victoria, Cyttir Telynor won
numerous victories in the show ring, before becoming a senior stallion at Frongoy.
Also he won at the Royal Welsh; in fact he won the George Prince of Wales Cup twice!!
But now, let’s bring an end to
all these family stories!
As you now understand ”poor,
little” Victoria has a lot to live up to! As far as we know she is the only Fronarth Victor offspring in Denmark,
and it will be really exciting to see if she in her future show career can live
to some of all the triumphs that runs in her veins!
